National Special Olympic Torch Comes to the HHPD
On June 12, 2014 the National Special Olympic Torch made a special appearance at the Hasbrouck Heights Police Headquarters. The National Special Olympic Torch only made twelve (12) stops around New Jersey, with Hasbrouck Heights being one. Hasbrouck Heights Police Department was chosen as a stop for the National Torch due to the ongoing donations and charity work that the HHPD does toward the NJ Special Olympics. A Texas Police Officer who escorted the Torch presented the HHPD with a Texas State Flag, while an Olympic athlete from Arkansas made a speech Thanking the HHPD for their dedication to Special Olympics. Chief Colaneri, Mayor Heck, and several Hasbrouck Heights officers were on hand to accept the gracious gifts and express our gratitude to the athletes for hard work. The HHPD wishes all Athletes Good Luck throughout the Games.
